You Can’t Keep a Good Man Down

From Parkinson’s to a new life with Deep Brain Stimulation. One man’s story of how his life was affected by Parkinson’s Disease, and then recovered with Deep Brain Stimulation.

Geoff was a larrikin who rose to become a senior bank manager and a builder. Parkinson’s nearly destroyed him, but through sheer determination, he undertook DBS and was given a new start.

The book includes a chapter on the possible effect of arsenic-based sheep dip. Was this implicated in causing Geoff’s Parkinson’s Disease? More research needs to be done on this matter. Scientific references are given for all the scientific material included in the book eg descriptions of Parkinson’s and DBS.

If you have experience with Parkinson’s or a loved one with this disease, “You Can’t Keep a Good Man Down” is a promising read. This book gives you a thorough, yet condensed, overview of the potential causes, the known effects and a viable option for curtailing the devastation of Parkinson’s.

A valuable handbook for anyone with a loved one who is suffering from Parkinson’s disease. The book tells what it is like to live with Parkinson’s and the medical approaches, specifically Deep Brain Stimulation, a sort of ‘pacemaker for the brain’ that enables patients to live their lives in a more controlled manner.

A thought-provoking treatise on one person’s journey through Parkinson’s Disease and the DBS surgery. It should be noted that everybody’s journey is different.

The Structure of Light

At a time when the distancing eye is our culture’s preferred way of relating to the world around us, and when we value reasonable rather than emotional responses, Sally Ann Hunter evokes a richly multi-sensual world, and is enthralled by emotional experience. Her poems convey intensity by welding outer experience to inner feeling.
