The Structure of Light
At a time when the distancing eye is our culture’s preferred way of relating to the world around us, and when we value reasonable rather than emotional responses, Sally Ann Hunter evokes a richly multi-sensual world, and is enthralled by emotional experience. Her poems convey intensity by welding outer experience to inner feeling.
This new poet is gifted with a visceral connection to words, and the energy to explore and experiment. She demonstrates courage in taking herself seriously. There is a great deal to enjoy in this volume and she has in abundance the capacity to grow as a poet. We can look forward to the promise expressed in this little poem:
veiled poems abound
in the folds of my being
silence waits on them.
– Jenny Wightman
In the Structure of Light, the poet refers to spiritual light. This can be compared with Jesus saying that he was the Light of the World. Some people believe that it is behind this light that the Creator or the Godhead can be found. Some others say that God is Light. The poet, after many years of meditation, begins to perceive the components of consciousness and their structure.
